slope failure and pasar ramadhan

the two items in the title doesnt relate to each other. it just few things that happen to me yesterday. i thought yesterday would be a very nice day without hecticness of work.. is there such word as hecticness? huhu.. so, i started my day by posting an article for this blog. suddenly i got a message from hubby saying that we need to go to the main campus for an urgent site visit. at first i wonder what happen. around 10.30am, my senior colleague asked us to go to her room for a little briefing. i was quite surprised to learn that a slope failure had happened at our main campus. i believe most main campus students knew about this. the slope failed near to students dormitory. the catastrophe happened last saturday.. if you guys happened to read or heard the news regarding the worst flood in penang, that was the same day the slope failed.

we reached the main campus around 11am. we were the first group to arrive before another 2 groups. i was learnt by the guard that luckily the slope failed at 1.00am.. not during 'berbuka puasa' time. thank god nothing happened to the students. fyi, all blocks there were built on a hill. a slope monitoring system was installed on different slope, but in the same area. so, after gathered alltogether, we separated throughout the site to assess any other failure. for me, i went all the structures to look for any signs. there are few little signs that need to be taken into consideration. we did found some weaknesses on few things. i wont mention it here. kang kalu kena saman x pasai! so, today we need to do a full report to be presented to the VC tomorrow. i am still waiting for my students to compile the reports. currently they are organizing all evidence found yesterday.

i should mention here that i believe that the lack of interaction between the pejabat pembangunan and experts in USM itself that lead to some problems related to most of the structure built in our campuses. the engineer in charge doesnt even bother to ask opinions to the experts in the field. same goes like story that we heard about shaman. have you heard about it?? if you know, shaman in a village sometimes doesnt been bothered by his own villagers.. people tend to find other shaman from other village to be cured rather than coming to their own expert. same goes with our govt la.. here and there we can listen to news saying we import expert from UK la, US la.. why dont you give the local expert a chance.. even we were invited by others to give our expertise. yesterday, even one of our colleague mentioned that he was even get a call from contractors asking for his help for their contract in USM!! apeda.. wasting money and time is what most gvt agencies do.. so, now you guys can imagine la this related to the mishaps reported by auditor in the report shown on tv3 buletin utama..

so, tomorrow we will submit our report based on our findings in the campus. i wish to bare the result here.. but bahaya la pulak ye.. huhu.. nevermind, we'll see what will happen later. hopefully nothing happen to students there.. kesian kat depa..

later yesterday afternoon, when we reached back to our office, the day seems very fine. so, we decided to go to pasar ramadhan. it was Aiman's first time going to pasar ramadhan. to tell the truth, i miss going to UTM's and Tmn U's pasar ramadhan. i believe my friends would agree with me. the pasar ramadhan here is sooooooooooo boring.. the menu is too biasa n most sellers sell same thing.. huh.. depa xdak idea kut.. boring.. tapi aiman been quite that time.. mata je tgk food. mulut pulak melopong.. hehehe.. so cute.. as for the night, after iftar i manage to finish a basket full of unfolded clothes.. tinggal lagi 1 raga besar nak lipat.. huhu.. so, chaiyo mama!! hehehe
